Moving In With a Pet: The Pet Policy and Fees at Riverlights Apartments for Rent in Wilmington, NC

Cat and dog relaxing beside moving boxes and a pet carrier in a bright apartment living room.

Oasis at Riverlights is a pet-friendly community, and we welcome dogs and cats as part of the family. Before you apply, ask our leasing team about the current pet policy, including any breed or weight guidelines, pet deposits or fees, and monthly pet rent, so you can plan your budget with no surprises.

Our apartments for rent sit in the Riverlights community along the Cape Fear River, with a dog park and pet spa on site. To ask about your pet, reach out to our team or call (910) 631-5465.

What does a typical apartment pet policy include?

Most apartment pet policies cover a few key areas: which pets are allowed, how many you can have, any breed or weight guidelines, the costs involved, and the rules for living with pets in the community.

These policies help keep the community comfortable for everyone, including neighbors with and without pets. They also protect your pet by making sure the space is a good fit for their size and needs.

Because the details can change, the best way to get accurate information is to ask our leasing team directly. We will walk you through the current policy, explain any requirements, and answer questions about your specific pet.

Our community is in the heart of Marina Village, within the master-planned Riverlights Coastal Community. When you call or visit, have your pet's details ready: species, breed, age, and weight. That helps us give you clear answers right away.

Are there breed and weight guidelines for dogs and cats?

Many apartment communities have breed and weight guidelines, especially for dogs, so it is always worth asking before you apply. Cats usually have fewer restrictions, but limits on the number of pets per apartment often apply to both.

We had someone tour our apartments whose very first question was about her two cats, Mia and Maeve. She showed us pictures of them on her phone, then asked about every part of our pet policies.

Knowing all the details and costs up front helped her create a realistic budget for her move. That is exactly the kind of conversation we love to have before someone applies.

If you have a larger dog, more than one pet, or a breed you are unsure about, call us first. It is much easier to get a clear answer before you apply than to find out later. Bring your pet's vaccination records and any other paperwork you have, since many communities ask for them.

What pet deposits, fees, or pet rent should you budget for?

Apartment communities often charge some combination of a one-time pet deposit or fee and a monthly pet rent. Each works a little differently, so it helps to understand the terms before you sign.

A pet deposit is typically a one-time payment, and depending on the community, it may be refundable or non-refundable. Monthly pet rent is added to your regular rent. Some communities charge per pet, so two cats or two dogs can mean higher totals.

For our current amounts, contact our leasing team. We will give you the exact numbers for your pet, so you can add them to your moving budget along with rent, utilities, and other costs.

Our apartments start at $1,399, with one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans. We also have a current promotion: the next five applicants will receive a credit for their application and administrative fees. Ask about it when you call.

Planning these costs ahead of time makes the move smoother for you and your pet.

What amenities make pet living easier at Riverlights?

Our community has a dedicated dog park and a pet spa, so your pet has space to play and a convenient place to get cleaned up after a muddy walk or a day outside.

Pet owners also appreciate the everyday conveniences. Valet trash service, a package room for pet supply deliveries, storage units, and garages available for rent all make life with a pet a little easier. Private balconies or patios give you a spot to relax with your cat or dog at home.

Beyond the community, the Riverlights area along the Cape Fear River offers a beautiful setting for walks and time outdoors. Downtown Wilmington and its Riverwalk are a short drive away for weekend outings with your pet.

For you, there is a resort-style saltwater pool, a 24-hour fitness center, a clubhouse, fire pits, a grilling pavilion, bike and kayak storage, and the Capitol Coffee Bar. Explore all of our amenities.

How do you apply with a pet?

Start by asking about our pet policy, then apply online once you know your pet is a good fit. It is a simple process, and our leasing team is here to help at each step.

Before you apply, gather your pet's information, including breed, weight, age, and vaccination records. Having those details ready can make the process faster.

When you are ready, use our easy online apply page to start your application. If you have questions along the way, our leasing office is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Touring first is a great idea, too. You can see the dog park and pet spa in person, look at floor plans, and ask any questions about life with pets in the community.
